THE CHALLENGE
Did you know that there is a common problem worldwide, in both developed and developing countries, of inadequate or restricted data and information access and exchange for biodiversity conservation?
In order to facilitate the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) through strategies and action plans, Article 18(3) of the CBD requests the establishment of a clearing-house mechanism (CHM). This is a global network for the sourcing, exchange and distribution of data and information, which also operates at regional and national levels.
