The project Advancing Jamaican Biodiversity Data Products and Information Services, known as Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) – Jamaica Project for short was successfully implemented from September 2017 to January 2019. The Jamaica CHM was instrumental in the coordination of the project. The Institute of Jamaica-led project in collaboration with partners (National Environment and Planning Agency,  Natural History Museum in London, and Jamaica Conservation and Development Trust) aimed to address Jamaica’s obligations under the CBD’s Aichi Target 19: By 2020, knowledge, the science base and technologies relating to biodiversity, its values, functioning, status and trends, and the consequences of its loss, are improved, widely shared and transferred, and applied.  Note that this is also a stated National Target in the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for Jamaica, 2016 – 2021.  This project was funded by the European Union in partnership with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).
