Elizabeth Morrison -  Zoologist


Elizabeth Morrison holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Botany and a Master of Science in Natural Resources Management, both from the University of the West Indies (Mona). Her Masters thesis focused on Agrobiodiversity Responses to Flood and Landslide Hazards in the Rio Grande River Watershed of  Jamaica, where she worked closely with farmers to determine specific methods they employed using biodiversity to lower their risk to natural hazards.

Elizabeth prepares articles and displays for the general public on scientific historical and environmental issues. She curates the zoological collections and assists local and foreign researchers with taxonomic identification of Jamaican fauna.

Elizabeth is a specialist lecturer for the Tourism Product Development Company specializing in Flora and Fauna. Currently, she is the technical advisor for a joint project between the Natural History Society of Jamaica and the Institute of Jamaica, which explores and documents the unique links between folklore and Jamaican Natural History.

Her professional affiliations include Natural History Society of Jamaica, The Jamaica Young Scientists’ Forum and The Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica where she is an External Examiner in Agriculture and the Environment.
